The I - Cuff features:
Light and comfortable to wear
Flexible to fit different size legs
Aesthetically pleasing
Safe and ease of application
Applies pressure sequentially rather than uniformly
Applies pressure in order to increase venous flow proximally
(ie towards the heart) which is important for people with
incompetent venous valves
Cost effective
Remotely controlled by means of a small hand transmitter
switching the unit on or off when required
Prevention of Thrombosis
NEW INVENTION 2011
DVT - I - Cuff
Stern Electronics has developed a new asymmetrical portable
“Compression Device” (CD)
which assists in the prevention of
deep vein thrombosis. Essentially, this device massages the lower
limb of the leg and stimulates the blood flow in the direction of the
heart, thereby reducing the risk of blood clotting. Following several
laboratory trials, favorable comparisons to leading CD devices in the
market place were made. The trials proved an increase in blood flow
volumes and velocities. The DVT I-Cuff is the only portable, mechanical
compression device which operates sequentially, creating a sinusoidal
waveform which stimulates and directs blood flow. It is easy to use,
very comfortable to wear, and can be activated via remote control.
How does the I - Cuff work?
A half moon shaped force beam
inside the I - Cuff is applying
pressure to the calf muscle while
gradually being driven upwards.
The pressure is released on the
return of the force beam to the
starting position, ready for the
next massage.
